Bugaboo Bee 5 Review
Bugaboo Bee 5 is a magnificent stroller that features high-quality construction and over-the-top features so you can take your kid around town with convenience and ease. It can be used from the day your baby is born until they are 17kgs, meaning it can last up to 1-2 years.
The Bee 5 is suitable for carrying cots, car seats, and cocoons. The seat of this stroller has a lie-flat option that you can use when your baby is an infant but that wasn’t always the story in my experience.
It is a very lightweight pram that features a one-hand fold mechanism so you have no trouble putting the pram down with one hand while taking care of your baby with the other. Once folded, the stroller becomes quite compact that you can take it anywhere you want.
The buggy features black leather bars as an adjustable handle, pairing it up with black wheels that give the Bee 5 a very luxurious outlook. It is one of the most stylish strollers on the market that comes at an affordable enough price.
The seat of this pram is reclinable and reversible so your baby can lay back in maximum comfort. To ensure ease of maneuverability, the Bee 5 has an all-suspension system that prevents road bumps from affecting your baby.
The seat comes thickly padded with breathable mesh so it remains warm during winters and has better airflow in summers. Lastly, the Bee 5 also features a big hood that protects your baby from sun rays and is also waterproof so even if it begins to rain when you’re out, your baby remains protected.
Bee 5 is an ideal pick for someone living in urban areas. It is a great option if you have to use public transport daily. The lightweight stroller makes traveling around town easier.
- Easy to maneuver
- Looks luxurious
- Compact design
- Impeccable suspension system
- No self-standing fold
- Doesn’t have a footrest
Bugaboo Bee 6 Review
Bee 6 came out back in 2020 and featured loads of upgrades that I will be mentioning as I move ahead. It is suitable for infants until they are four years of age. The pram comes with a forward and a rear seat and is pretty expensive than Bee 5.
You can adjust the seat of this latest upgrade into various angles. Not to mention, the height of the stroller seat can also be adjusted which is to accommodate bigger toddlers. I know how expensive Bee 6 really is but the fact that it can accommodate bigger kids was one of the things that attracted me the most.
The Bee 6 also features a 5-point harness with chest pads and a big canopy to provide added protection to your baby. The stroller has been infused with soft mesh fabrics that feel smooth to the skin and have better breathability to promote enhanced airflow.
The canopy or hood on this stroller features panels along with a peek-a-boo window to prevent suffocation. It also allows the parent to watch over their kid without taking the hood off. The seat unit is ideal to use for kids of up to 6-months. However, we recommend using a cocoon, carrycot, or a car seat for an infant due to safety reasons.
Bee 6 has an ergonomically designed seat with many air holes so you don’t have to worry about your child getting all sweaty in the summers. There is also a rotatable bumper bar included in the package that makes grabbing the handlebar more convenient. Moreover, Bugaboo has integrated this stroller with 7-inch wheels to make sure the kids experience a bump-free ride.
There is suspension on all wheels for better maneuverability. There is also a medium-sized compartment underneath the seat where you can keep your baby’s essentials. It also has a one-hand folding mechanism and once folded, the pram stands on its own.

- Peek-a-boo window for the canopy
- Better fabrics
- Comes with a bumper bar
- Pretty expensive
- The child seat is shorter
Now that you have gone through a brief review of both strollers, I am going to compare the major features of the strollers below so we can easily pick our winner.
Feature of Bugaboo Bee 5 Vs Bee 6
Bugaboo Bee 6 and Bee 5 are both compatible with Bugaboo Bassinets but you should know the bassinet for Bee 6 has seen various improvements.
The newly added features of Bee 6 include better ventilation through a breezy window and a tall adapter that allows the bassinet to sit higher. This also includes the fact that removing the bassinet has never been this easier.
Due to these facts, we think in this domain, Bugaboo Bee 6 is the winner.
All the major changes that Bugaboo brought in Bee 6 are where the child seat is concerned. Virtually, both of the seats can be pushed forward and backward. Both seats recline and are well capable of going into a lie-flat position.
But the Bee 6 has better and improved fabric with breathable properties. I also think the Bee 6 fabric looks way more luxurious than Bee 5. Another added bonus in this stroller is the addition of a bumper bar. This not only helps protect your baby from slipping but also keeps them comfortable while they lie in the pram.
Lastly, Bugaboo has also increased its weight capacity to 50lbs from 37.5 lbs.
So, you can see, Bee 6 here wins again without a second thought. This stroller is completely overhauled by everything that makes a child feel more comfortable which is why we have to grant it the winning card.
Both Bugaboo Bee 5 and Bee 6 have swivel wheels that all lock and offer commendable maneuverability. Both of these strollers also have an independent suspension system on all four wheels to ensure a bump-free ride for the kid. The wheels feel solid and sturdy and are very easy to maneuver.
However, Bugaboo did decide to redesign the wheels for Bee 6. In Bee 5, the wheels are made out of rubber whereas, in the latest upgrade, the wheels are constructed out of polyurethane. They also have been increased in size which was 5inches before and is 7inches now.
Though the bigger wheels do make storage somewhat hard. But the optimal performance delivered by these giant wheels again makes the Bee 6 a winner.
Car Seat Compatibility
As far as car seat compatibility is concerned, both; Bee 5 and Bee 6 are compatible with car seats in their limited capacity. Previously, Bugaboo strollers would only work with their own car seat known as the Turtle. But recently, the brand announced the launch of Turtle One and that is what all the differences come down to.
While both of the strollers are compatible with the latest car seat addition. The Bee 6 stroller already includes adapters that will allow you to pair the car seat with the stroller straight out of the box. You will not have to purchase the adapters separately with this stroller.
Though it isn’t that big of a difference the inclusion of adapters does make Bee 6 a winner over here again.
Another area that needed comparison was the canopy. If you go through the reviews on Amazon’s website about Bee 5, you will notice how parents weren’t very happy with how the canopy was designed.
To deal with this setback, Bugaboo included two peek-a-boo windows on the Bee 6 canopy that promoted better airflow and enhanced ventilation for the kids. It also allowed the parents to watch over their kids without having to slide down the hood.
Peek-a-boo windows have become essential in strollers these days. The fact that Bee 5 didn’t have any canopy windows was quite disappointing since you would be paying a lot of money for it. So, again, Bee 6 is the winner.
The Bee 5 is available in a wide array of colors for the canopy and the stroller itself. You can buy this baby in 5 different colors and create a combination of the canopy from 13 available options.
On the other hand, Bee 6 is only available in four colors and comes with a one-box solution. The color customization options are pretty limited with Bee 6 which is why Bee 5 is the clear winner here.
Considering all that I have told you about the Bugaboo Bee 5 vs Bee 6 debate, I think the winner is pretty clear here. Bee 6 has all the essential features that a parent can need to keep their child safe while going out and about the city. It has straps, and various sitting positions is car seat compatible, has better fabric, is available in different colors, and features a canopy that comes with windows.
I know the price is pretty high but considering it is going to last for years does make a lot of sense to me. Once purchased, you can use it until your child is 3 or 4 years old. That is a long time and you will never have to make a new purchase.
So yes, Bugaboo Bee 6 would be the winner over here.
