Bugaboo Fox 2 Vs Cameleon 3: Stollers Comparison

Bugaboo is known for being the originator of modular strollers. This means, they led the way for innovation in this domain and became world-famous for introducing Dutch designs. The reason why I am always yapping about the Bugaboo strollers is that their entire construction is based on the very fact that pedestrians can make the most out of these prams.
I found them to be the perfect family choice and especially for people who live in regions where they need to walk for hours on a daily basis.
Talking about the Cameleon 3 and the Fox 2, both of these strollers share many features that I absolutely adore. You can use either one of them from the moment your child is born until they are 37.5lbs heavier. Both strollers come with a bassinet and seat so they prove to be highly functional in all sorts of circumstances. On top of that, Chameleon 3 and Fox 2 feature a unique two-wheel mode with foam-filled tires that can be easily pulled through sand or snow. The two-step folding mechanism and telescoping handlebars are going to make the whole experience of taking your child around town so much more convenient.
As far as accessories are concerned, both strollers share almost the same add-ons such as sun canopies, woolen seat liners, trays, parasols, seat/bassinet stands you can use as a highchair or to put your baby to sleep along with smartphone holders and so much more. You can also avail adapters for their car seats from some specific brands such as Maxi-Cosi, Britax, Peg Perego and Cybex.
As you can see there are many similarities between the two strollers but at the same time, there are also many unique differences that are worth talking about. So, in this article, I am going to review both of these strollers in brief detail and then compare the similarities and the differences between the two so you can have a better idea of which stroller you need to go for.

Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Review
The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 is known as the original pushchair introduced by the brand. They first launched it into their luxury pram market back in 2003 and is said to be the most iconic stroller of all time.
The Cameleon is one of Bugaboo’s most iconic pushchairs. The brand made the initial model of this pushchair be comfortable, smooth to ride, easy to sit on, and durable. It was the reason why so many parents began to feel comfortable while taking their kids out because nothing like this pram existed before.
As the name suggests, Cameleon, this pushchair has a habit of adapting to its surroundings seamlessly. Just like Fox 2, the stroller is just as stylish as any other Bugaboo stroller should be. Considering this is the first-ever stroller the brand has ever launched, it does come with all the features and advantages we would hardly expect of it.
I found it to be an ideal pick for parents who are looking for the ultimate travel system that can help them take their kids out with as much convenience. The stroller offers great value for the money, is very smooth to ride on different surfaces, and features a durable wheel system that won’t let you down even if you decide to walk around town for hours.
The sun canopy delivers maximum protection against the scorching heat so your child can rest safely. It might even allow them to take a nap without having to get disturbed by the incoming light. Despite being durable, the best part about Cameleon 3 is that it is weightless. You will not have any trouble dragging it around the park or on the road even when your child is sitting inside of it.
The latest addition in the Cameleon family is the Cameleon 3 Plus. This stroller comes with more color options and a far more spacious seat than before. It also has additional weight capacity which means the stroller is going to last for a very long time. Though there are a few setbacks with this stroller as well when compared to Fox 2, Cameleon 3 is far more affordable.
Pros
- Lightweight but Durable
- Sun Canopy
- Handlebar is Reversible
- Bigger Seat
Cons
- Recline is a very clumsy process
- of switching between carrycot, car seat and the pushchair is very exhausting
Bugaboo Fox 2 Review
Moving on, let’s talk about the Bugaboo Fox 2, we think it seems fitting that you should have all the details about this stroller so you can make a more informed decision and not blame me for a wrong choice.
Talking about Fox 2 solely, you should know this stroller itself came with two amazing upgrades in comparison with its predecessor. This baby features a more ergonomic seat with a wide range of reclining positions and a fast-folding mechanism that will allow you to wrap the entire thing up within one minute. All of this is made easy because of the push button. There is also some additional storage integrated below the recliner seat where you can put all the things you will need for your baby in one place.
The reason why I have always been in love with Bugaboo Fox 2 Stroller was because of the fact that it is convenient for everyday use. If you love going on longer strolls and want your baby to accompany you, then you shouldn’t look any further than this.
It comes with a high-end canopy with two peek-a-boo windows that ensure better airflow and provide your munchkin with ultimate sun coverage. With this canopy, your baby will never have to worry about light peeping in on them in a park when all they want to do is take a nap. I think this stroller would be an ideal choice for parents who are always moving around the town. If you want to go for a stroll around the mall or want to take your kid to the park, the stroller will help you stay connected to your child through these peek-a-boo windows.
On top of everything else, I absolutely fell in love with the fact that Fox 2 looks stunningly beautiful. This is a gorgeous stroller that is sleek and stylish and has the ultimate combination of sleek and stylish. Furthermore, it is also very lightweight even after putting your baby in. You will not have any trouble dragging the stroller on the road or when you have to carry it over public transport.
Despite its enigmatic and lightweight construction, the Fox 2 feels very lightweight and has a maximum load capacity of 22lbs. You can use it until your kid is 5-years old so think about it as a long-term investment.
Also, before I move ahead with the comparison, I think you should also check out my comparison of Bugaboo Fox vs Fox 2 so you can have a better idea of what more is out there.
Pros
- Can handle all sorts of Terrains
- Folds with a Seat on and off
- Lightweight yet Robust
- Premium Design and Quality
- Compact Foldability
Cons
- Expensive
- Initial installation can be a Bit Tricky
Bugaboo Fox 2 Vs Cameleon 3 – Features Comparision
Now, moving on, let’s talk in detail and compare the features of both these strollers. This way, you will know which stroller is more efficient and has the most to offer.
Maneuverability, Wheels, and Brake
One thing that is similar between Cameleon 3 and Fox 2 is that both are sturdy even though they are pretty lightweight. As far as maneuverability goes, the Fox 2 is much easier to maneuver supported by the adjustable handle that will work well for several people with a multitude of heights.
Just like that, Cameleon 3 is very smooth to maneuver and you will have no trouble dragging it from one surface to another. It works great on different terrains with an adjustable handlebar. However, the wheel size on this stroller is slightly smaller than Fox 2 which makes the ride somewhat bumpier.
Both of these pushchairs support all-wheel suspension and feature high-quality tires that grip really well on a variety of surfaces.
The Bugaboo Fox 2 Stroller is just slightly better in maneuvering because it features an additional suspension system on the central joint. It will make the ride much smoother for a tiny human which is why it wins in the maneuverability and suspension domain.
Price Difference
Now, it completely depends on the frame material and customizations you go for. But you will see a massive price difference between Bugaboo Fox 2 and Cameleon 3. To be precise, the Bugaboo Fox 2 stroller is a high-end and luxury stroller whereas the Cameleon Stroller isn’t very pricey at all.
But the added price Bugaboo Fox 2 makes all the sense to us owing to all the added features such as push-button closing and three-step customization. The Cameleon isn’t very feature-oriented, it is a basic but very useful stroller that if you purchase second hand can cost you a lot less than the latter. Considering the features and the price, I think Cameleon 3 takes the cake.
Weight and Dimensions
You can start using the Bugaboo Fox from the day your child is born until they weigh around 39kgs. Though it is slightly heavy, it is also constructed while keeping long-term use in perspective.
However, the Cameleon 3 weighs much lighter than the Fox 2 but it has a weight capacity of 17kgs which is when a child is around 3 years of age. The construction quality of this stroller isn’t also very reliable. A lot of users complain the stroller begins to disintegrate within a year or two which isn’t the case with Fox 2.
Both of these pushchairs are fairly lightweight but I find the Bugaboo Fox 2 Stroller to be much sturdier and an ideal pick for long-term use. It also has a higher weight capacity.
Seat, Harness, and Basket
The best thing that I found about both of these strollers is that they have world and parent-facing seats. During my test ride of the Fox 2 Pushchair, I liked it for the fact that it has a higher seat which allowed me to make direct eye contact with my child.
The seat sits much higher than that of Cameleon 3 but one thing common on both recliners was that the seats were equally comfortable and spacious. Your child will have no trouble spreading their legs when it’s time to nap because the stroller will allow them to make themselves as comfortable as they want.
Cameleon 3 comes with adapters that will allow you to change the seating position from world-facing to parent-facing. It is a reversible handlebar that is very easy to switch. You can easily move it over your baby’s head until and unless you’re pushing the car in the opposite direction.
This makes the stroller very flexible for parents. On the other hand, the same reversible handlebar feature isn’t something that you get with Bugaboo Fox 2.
Lastly, the Cameleon and Fox 2 both feature three reclining positions, have five harness points and are compatible with a car seat and a carrycot. However, as far as storage is concerned, that is where Bugaboo Fox 2 wins because it beats Cameleon 3’s 22-liter basket with its 38-liter storage box.
On a whole, I think when harness, reclining positions, and seat are concerned, both have a tie. However, the Cameleon does have a reversible handle which can be very useful so I guess that one wins.

Conclusion:
So, to sum it all up, I think both Cameleon 3 and Fox 2 have some very admirable features. But, if I was to pick a winner, I think I would pick both of them in their own respective domains.
Bugaboo Fox 2 is great for someone who plans on making a long-term investment and has enough money on their hands to make the purchase. Whereas the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 is a great replacement for high-end strollers and perfect for people who don’t want to go overboard with their spending.
Both of these strollers are quite similar but the price tag difference is necessarily there. So, yes, it’s a win-win for me on both ends.
